Below is a list of the 2010 events.
Note: games subject to change.
DIZZY CHICKEN SHOT PUT
This is the event that has brought the chicken into the Hurricane Olympic Family as a pseudo Mascot and in turn has made it the face of the first place Olympics Games trophy.
Each participant holds the rubber chicken as they spin around a baseball bat 5 times, head on the top of the bat. After the fifth spin, they hurl the chicken into the field of play. Scoring is the same as a javelin throw or disc throw in track and field. Any chicken the lies outside the field of play is a fault and is not counted.
Furthest distances score gold, silver, bronze.
OBSTACLE COURSE RELAY
Each participant will pass through a series of obstacles and challenges from one end of the course to the other. Once they successfully complete all obstacles, they sprint back to the start line and tag their teammate to go next. All participants go once. Best times score gold, silver, bronze.
SHUT YOUR CORNHOLE
This event is your basic bean bag or corn hole toss. Each team throws twice. Not only does the team earn points when a player successfully lands a bag on the opposing team’s board, but they also then can hand out penalties to the opposing players. Top scores place gold, silver, bronze.
Point Value is
3 – in the hole
2 – leaning / hanging on board partly in hole
1 – on the board or touching the board
RALLY FLIP CUP
Basic game of skill ... but only you are racing against the clock and not against another team ... this is an all in event - best time during the course of the day. Have your team flip 20 times quicker than anyone else and you're golden.
PUZZLE RELAY
Survivor style: Each participant jumps in a potato sack to the opposite end of the course. There they must dig through a pool filled with a substance to be named later to obtain a puzzle piece. They must hold the puzzle piece and jump in the potato sack back to the starting point where they tag their teammates hand. There are 10 total puzzle pieces therefore each active participant on the team will go twice in the course. When all 10 pieces are obtained, the team must then solve the puzzle. Best times score gold, silver, bronze.
BOCCE BALL BIATCHES
Think of shuffle board but with bocce balls ... and passing out penalties to your opponent for every point you earn. Best scores throughout the day earn gold, silver, bronze.
OVER THE LINE
A relay race where each active team member is racing from one end of the course to the next to fill a glass bucket over a set line. Once line is reached, the entire contents must be consumed by the team before the clock stops. Fastest time throughout the day earn gold, silver, bronze.
EGG TOSS
Last event of the day. Even though this event has been around in the world forever, we are stoked to watch as each team selects two representatives to go against all 16 teams at once. Last man standing wins gold ... that is, if anyone is still standin after three previous hours of games.
DONATIONS
The 9th event is a non athletic event. The ninth event consists of each team raising money in the weeks before the event. Point values will be given based on the amount of funds raised. This is a great way for each team to acquire additional sponsorship and to add to the total check we write to The Make-A-Wish Foundation of San Diego. Every bit helps. No donation is too little.
